![]() But Kodi is more about streaming from external sources, not internal, and is too intermittent for my taste. Except MAYBE Kodi.which is basically Plex, since they both come from XBMC bones. I have also tried most of the "alternatives" you list, and most are not even close to an all in one encompassing replacement for Plex. I love Plex, use it every single day and would NEVER trade it for anything out there currently. I have had a few "issues" over the years, but mostly associated with computers or network, not Plex. I paid for it the day PlexPass came out (I had been using it for several years before that) and I never looked back. Wow, it sucks that you've had so many issues with Plex. If all else fails, switch to DHCP to have the router assign the NAS an IP. Double check manual IP assignment to ensure all numbers match (and the IP address you reserved for the NAS is actually available and offered by the router). Should you be unable to access the Plex server on the network as well as outside the home or office, you may have a misconfiguration of your NAS, which may include discrepancies between the router or access point and the unit. How to enable remote access in Plex (opens in new tab) Cannot access server on LAN This is the required port you need to have open but others can be added (opens in new tab) for additional Plex services like DLNA. How to forward ports on a router differs between manufacturers but the details you need to know are as follows: Or you can go down the manual route by opening up a port yourself. Universal Plug and Play (uPnP) can be enabled to allow Plex to "talk" with the router and have ports and routes opened up for access from the outside world. I appreciate any and all the help I can get.If you're able to access the Plex server using a client on the same network but are unable to connect outside, the most likely cause of the problem is the router. What am I doing wrong or what is happening? I deleted one and installed 3 more for a total of 6 but only 3 are showing, not even the one that showed up earlier is showing. When I initially installed the movies, I had installed 4 of them and all 4 showed u. I stopped Plex from running then restarted it but nothing. I checked everything: space allocation (I do not have a quota), permissions, everything. ![]() For some reason, the rest of the movies and music is not showing. I then log into Plex (by clicking on 'Open' from the installed Apps) or going directly to the website, but out of everything, I am only seeing 3 movies and 4 CD's (the m4a and not mp3). Four of the music CDs are in m4a format and the others are mp3. I copied 6 movies to the media folders and 6 CD's to the music folder so I can test it. They also suggested I can create folders within those to categorize the media (comedy, drama, documentaries for movies and blues, jazz, rock for music etc.). For example 'movies', 'music', photos' etc. I watched videos on how to install the media files and they suggested going to 'File Station' - click on 'Plex' - then 'Library' - and then create the media folders there. It has the same rights as an admin and has my email. I have an Admin account and also an account with my initials that was setup when I configured Synology and installed DSM. I am running Plex on a Synology NAS DS1019 with 40TB of storage.
